I knew Andy Link

“Of course, now I am too old to be much of a fisherman, and now of course I usually fish the big waters alone, although some friends think I shouldn’t. Like many fly fishermen in western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise.

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.

I am haunted by waters.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What kind of stories are you looking for?

Our intent is to create a collaborative tapestry of Andy’s colorful life through hundreds of stories. This isn’t a memorial page meant to summarize the whole of what he meant to all of us. We want narrative cross sections of your time with Andy, told as if to a friend. No one laughed at himself more than he did, so have fun. Be irreverent. Most of all, be honest. Imagine him laughing along with you as you tell your story…

My story is a bit off color. Is that okay?

Absolutely! Many of our favorite stories are a bit crude. Keep it fun. Keep it honest!

Do you prefer that I submit my story as text or video?

Do what you’re most comfortable with, but we can turn video into text, but not text into video… so video is preferred if possible.

Is it difficult to record and share a video?

NO! We are utilizing an online platform that makes it incredibly easy. If you’ve got a smart phone, you’ve got everything you need! If you’re unsure, try the video option and if you can’t get that to work, you can always do text.

Can I submit more than one story?

Please do! The more the merrier. We only ask that you submit separate videos or texts for each story.

Can multiple people participate in the same story?

YES! Many stories are better from multiple perspectives. Either record the video together and submit as a single story, or submit separate videos as individuals.
